What are essential oils?

Have your ever thought about using Essential Oils in your own life? To live an Essential oil lifestyle?

Prior to me learning all about essential oils, I really did not know a huge amount about them. I had had experiences with Tea Tree, Eucalyptus and Lavender, but that was about all. I think most Australians would remember a Tea Tree or Eucalyptus experience!
I will share with you what I have come to know. I was chatting with my friend last night, and I was remembering my life before using Essential Oils. I had no idea that these little bottles of plant love could be so supportive for my health. But they are truly worth giving a try for yourself. Especially the oil blends which contain Clove oil, which is the most potent anti-oxidants out there!

Essential oils are incredible gifts from the earth. They are naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds which are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants.

They are extracted from the plant by way of either distillation of the plant matter or cold pressing.

Essential oils give plants their distinctive smells and they protect the plant and play a role in plant pollination. They serve as the defense system of the plant. Oils oxygenate the plant and carry nutrients, vital elements and chemical constituents to every cell in the plant. They give the plant the ability to destroy infections, stave off infestations, initiate and maintain growth and repair structural damage. It is the life force of the plant.

Essential oils are pure extracts from plants, 50-70 times more powerful than herbs. For example one drop of peppermint oil is the equivalent of 25 cups of peppermint tea and in one bottle of doTERRA lemon oil, there is 48 organic lemons!

The sense of smell is a tool that can elicit powerful physiologic, mental, and emotional responses. Essential oils are quickly absorbed by the smell receptors, which have a direct link to the limbic system by way of the olfactory nerve. The limbic system is part of the brain that supports a variety of functions including smell, emotions, behavior, and memory. For this reason, essential oils have an especially powerful effect via aromatic application.

In fact, essential oils take only 22 seconds to reach the brain, 2 minutes to be found in the blood stream and 20 minutes to affect every cell in the body.

It is the volatile aromatic compounds in the plant, which there have been 3000 varieties identified to date, which gives the essential oil its unique and specific benefits. Some of these compounds induce for example an uplifting or invigorating effect, while others are more calming.

Even with pure essential oils the composition of the oil can vary depending on the time of day, season, geographic location, method and duration of distillation, year grown, and the weather, making every step of the production process a critical determinant of the overall quality of the essential oil product.

I find that all so amazing! For me, I love the use of Essential oils as a compliment to my lifestyle and for use in the way of prevention and supporting myself with minor illnesses.

Essential oils do not replace traditional medication however – in fact, the doTERRA is doing everything they can to bridge the gap between conventional and alternative medicines, through universities and hospitals.

These oils work to promote well being, health and vitality and I just LOVE that! Besides that, I always smell sooo good! I do not have a day go by, where someone does not tell me how gorgeous I smell! I just love that.

I have so much more gorgeous info coming your way on Essential Oils, but if you are keen to know more info about the oils now, please feel free to email me and I will support you in any way that I can! As I said, sending oily packages across the city/ state/ country is now one of my favorite things to do, and I would love to send one to you!

Be well and big love,
